When I first started reading blogs around 4 years ago Style Rookie was one of the first I bookmarked along with Style Bubble. She started blogging at the age of 12 which was mind boggaling to me considering how well written, articulate and witty she was (and still is). From just outside of Chicago, Tavi’s mum is an artist and her dad has frequently accompanied her from New York to Paris on fashion week trips as well as lending a hand when photographing her outfits. She has a keen eye when putting together her very own mini editorials and a strong knack for nostalgia. You really do get the feel that Style Rookie is an outlet for her to express all her thoughts and dreams, a diary come scrapbook. Her mood boards are genius..coming from someone who spends their life doing them! You know she lives and breathes the things she talks about after seeing one of the many pictures of her room and the shrine type real life object mood boards she puts together. These can cover anything from Courtney Love’s band The Hole to the film The Virgin Suicides, which if you are an avid reader should know is her all time favourite! Tavi is fearless in her views and the way she dresses and I have infinite respect and admiration for anyone with such imagination. She has also founded an online magazine called Rookie and is Editor in Chief, check it out here.

“Rookie is a website for teenage girls. With monthly-themed content, we update three times a day, five days a week, and are happy to offer you millions of bad puns” – Tavi
