Newly crowned NME’s Cool List #1, Harlem’s hottest, youngest working rapper, first crashed onto the scene spitting rude-girl mantras and belligerent bile over sharp-edged beats. Her ’212′ video moves suggest a hard knock Harlem upbringing, but this La Guardia School of Performing Arts (of tv’s FAME fame) grad’s slick stagecraft belies her roots.
Her recent collaboration with producer Paul Epworth (Florence and The Machine, Adele, Bloc Party, Santogold among many others) has us on the edge of our seat and we can’t wait for the release of her album.
